The 1991 Mount Pleasant Uprising has remained seared in the memories of the people who took to the streets — but rests largely untold beyond their collective memory. As artists, we feel the responsibility to resist forgetting, to honor the history under our footsteps, to add fuel to the ongoing movement to end systemic violence. Part of that fight is simply taking the time to look, to listen to the stories of our elders, and part of that fight is adding our voices and memories to the archive, connecting the present to the past, recognizing our living history.
